CBCT stands for Cone Beam Computed Tomography, and it is a valuable imaging tool in dentistry, providing detailed and accurate three-dimensional images of the teeth, jaw, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), sinuses, and surrounding maxillofacial structures. This high precision image is obtained with low doses of radiation in a single scan in our dental office.
The 3D image allows visualization of the bone structure in three dimensions – height, thickness, and depth (volume) as well as assessment of the bone quality and density. It allows us to see what’s happening in the patient’s mouth from several views and perspectives for a more accurate diagnosis and detailed examination.

The benefits of 3D imaging are the following because they allow us to:

• accurately plan the position of your dental implants, avoiding important anatomical structures.
• assess your jawbone thickness and health prior to implant placement.
• identify the optimal placement of an implant, having the final prosthesis in mind.
• evaluate impacted teeth.
• examine an area prior to oral surgery.
• diagnose the cause of pain.
• identify diseases in their earliest stage.
• evaluate the temporomandibular joints, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment planning for TMJ disorders.
• diagnose tumors.
